What is a Performing Arts degree?
The study of Performing Arts allows for the combination of contemporary arts disciplines including acting, dancing, singing, theatre, musical theatre, sound design and digital video. With a focus on creating performance, you will be encouraged to develop, create and perform in an innovative fashion.
What Will I study?
You will learn the art of performing including dance, physical theatre, technology and writing for performance. Additionally, you will learn about the theory, history and origins of performing arts and will have the opportunity to work with established professionals in the arts field.

In year one you will be introduced to the theory, history and origins of performance and learn to critically analyse and evaluate existing performances and concepts. You will analyse interdisciplinary practice so you come to understand how all the arts are intrinsically linked, and you will consider how site, space and place have an impact on performance.
In year two you will examine Modern and Postmodern performance, and learn how to research and analyse practise in written form. Creative and Project management will be studied in order to understand how a performance project gets off the ground and comes to completion. Optional modules will allow you to specialise in your particular area of expertise, for example music and performance; improvisation and role play; ensemble studies in music and dance technique.
Year three is your chance to specialise by completing a large-scale project in your preferred area of performing arts. You will also build your professional portfolio and take part in a graduate showcase in front of peers and arts critics.
